Dal dhokli recipe step by step photos:

Ingredients:

For Dal:

1/2 cup toor dal(rinsed)
1 1/2 cup water
1 tsp oil
2 tbsp peanuts
1 tsp ghee/clarified butter
1/2 tsp mustard
1/2 tsp cumin/jeera
1 chilli(broken)
pinch hing/asafoetida
few curry leaves
1 tomato(finely chopped)
1 tsp ginger garlic paste
1 1/2 cup water
1/4 tsp turmeric
3/4 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
small piece jaggery/gud
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp lemon juice
2 tbsp coriander(finely chopped)

For Dhokli:

1 cup wheat flour/atta
1/4 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
1/4 tsp ajwain/carom seeds
1/2 tsp salt
2 tsp oil
1/2 cup water

How To Make Dal Dhokli With Step By Step Photo:

1.Firstly,in a cooker take 1/2 cup toor dal, 1 1/2 cup water,1 tsp oil.
2.In a small bowl keep 2 tbsp peanuts.
3.Pressure cook for 5 whistles or until the dal is cooked well.
4.Take off the boiled peanuts and keep aside.
5.Whisk and mash the dal to smooth consistency.
6.Now in a large kadai heat 1 tsp ghee and splutter 1 tsp mustard,1/2 tsp cumin,1 chilli,pinch hing and few curry leaves.
7.Further add 1 tomato,1 tsp ginger garlic paste and saute until tomatoesm turn soft and mushy.
8.Add in cooked dal,1 1/2 cup water and mix well adjusting consistency as required.
9.Also add 1/4 tsp turmeric,3/4 tsp chilli powder,1/4 tsp cumin powder,1/2 tsp coriander powder and 1/4 tsp garam masala.
10.Combine well making sure all the spices are mixed well.
11.Now add in cooked peanuts and boil for 1 minutes or until flavours are absorbed.
12.Additionally and small piece jaggery,3/4 tsp small and 1 tsp lemon juice.
13.Stir and boil.Keep aside until dhokli is prepared.

Dhokli Preparation Recipe:

1.firstly,in a large mixing bowl take 1 cup water flour,1/4 tsp turmeric,1/2 tsp chilli powder,1/4 tsp ajwain,1/2 tsp salt and 2 tsp oil.
2.Combine well until the spices are well combined.
3.Further,add 1/2 cup water and knead the dough.
4.Knead to smooth and soft dough.
5.Take a ball sized dough,dust with wheat flour.
6.Roll to slightly thick consistency dusting wheat flour if required.
7.Cut into diamond shapes or size of your choice.
8.Once the dal comes to a boil,drop in dhokli pieces and give a good mix well.
9.Cover and boil for 10-15 minutes or until dhokli are cooked completely.
10.Finally,add 2 tbsp coriander and enjoy dal dhokli with hot steamed rice.
